Meet Barry
Barry Richardson | Director
Barry began his professional career at the age of 16, joining a local family engineering company as an apprentice mechanical engineer. Over the next four decades, he progressed through the business to become Chief Operating Officer of a group comprising nine operating divisions, gaining extensive leadership, operational, and commercial experience across multiple sectors - including specialist companies within the clay and brick industry.
In 2016, Barry moved into business ownership, entering the aerospace and defence sector as CEO of Aerospace Cutting Tool Limited. Alongside his engineering and commercial achievements, he has also successfully developed two patents within the metal forming and telecommunications industries, reflecting his innovative and forward-thinking approach to business.
Outside of his corporate career, Barry developed a strong passion for property and construction, beginning residential renovations in the early 2000s. Over time, this evolved into the development and management of a rental portfolio of more than 10 properties, giving him valuable hands-on experience in residential refurbishment, project management, and property development.
Throughout these projects, James became Barry’s trusted contractor and long-term collaborator. After more than a decade of successfully working together across numerous residential developments, they formalised their partnership and established RT Builders Limited in 2025.
Today, Barry brings together decades of leadership experience, commercial expertise, engineering knowledge, and property development insight to help drive RT Builders Limited forward with a clear focus on quality, professionalism, and long-term client relationships.
Meet James
James Tordoff | Director
James began his career in construction at the age of 16, completing a bricklaying apprenticeship and achieving an NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations. Since then, he has built extensive hands-on experience across a wide range of trades and construction disciplines, developing a strong all-round understanding of the industry.
Over the years, James has worked across both residential and commercial sectors, contributing to projects of all sizes - from private domestic works to larger commercial developments. His experience includes bricklaying, groundworks, new builds, extensions, refurbishments, renovations, and driveway installations.
Known for his practical knowledge, strong work ethic, and attention to detail, James brings a hands-on approach to every project. His broad experience across multiple aspects of construction allows him to oversee work efficiently while maintaining the high standards RT Builders Limited is known for.
